Generative Engine Optimization

Helping AI know you — and introducing you to new friends

GEO in 76 seconds: a tale of two lists Script, storyboard and visual design by humans; AI assisted with some illustrations and the voiceover.

Buying decisions are moving from the search box to the AI chat. When a customer asks “which firms in this industry are actually reliable”, and you are not on the list AI gives back, your customers will hardly find you. Citemirror puts the excellent you in front of AI — so AI gets to know you, understand you, and recommend you to the customers who need you.

Method

Five stages, each with an exit gate

Every stage has defined inputs, outputs and acceptance criteria. No stage is skipped because the previous one did not clear its gate — that is how delivery quality is controlled.

01
Baseline mapping

Build the probe set across five purchase-intent layers and run a full first-round capture on five engines.

OutputBaseline report: a question × engine matrix with mention status, citation sources and factual deviations per cell
02
Entity calibration

Align the brand’s legal name, aliases, founding year, credentials and product naming across every channel.

OutputBrand fact sheet — the single authoritative source every channel must match verbatim
03
Corpus building

Supply extractable, verifiable, attributable material across owned, earned and structured sources. The bar for content: it must be liftable in one sentence — not merely well written.

OutputCorpus map: target question × citation source × existing asset, with a gap list
04
Structural hardening

Semantic markup, JSON-LD entity declarations, llms.txt, crawler access policy, definition-style paragraphs, citable data blocks.

OutputChange list plus a launch checklist where every item is verifiable
05
Re-measurement loop

Repeat the same probe set by round, compare the four metrics, attribute changes to specific actions, cut what did not work.

OutputRound-over-round comparison, attribution analysis, next-round priorities

Two stories: what GEO is, and what a provider does

A rookie procurement officer — an elephant — at a construction site in Changsha, buying cable-tray equipment for the first time. Model numbers and specifications mean nothing to him. He used to open a browser and scroll page after page; by page six he still was not sure. Now he takes out his phone and asks DeepSeek: “Our site is in Changsha — please recommend reliable cable-tray manufacturers.” Within seconds he gets a short list with reasons — and a supplier outside that list never even enters the comparison.

A guesthouse in the mountains: furnishings picked one by one, floor plans drawn by hand, prices kept fair — yet years on, business stays quiet. After they came to a GEO provider, when guests ask AI for homestay recommendations, “Gorilla Guesthouse” often appears on the list.

Demanders ask; suppliers make the list. GEO works on that single point — the list — so that those who need and those who are needed finally meet.

Services

One precondition, three execution lines

Every project starts with a baseline diagnostic. It is not sold separately and adds no extra fee — it is built on an offline understanding of your business logic and product materials, and it sets the baseline for the whole engagement.

Included in every project

Baseline diagnostic

We learn your business logic, product materials and decision chain offline, then design the probe set and run the first capture. The diagnostic sets the baseline for everything that follows.

  • Offline business & product research
  • Decision chain & purchase scenarios
  • Probe question set & baseline capture
  • Fact deviations & competitive landscape
LINE 02

Entity & corpus system

Unify brand facts into one citable standard formulation, and place it where it should appear.

  • Brand fact sheet
  • Corpus map & gap list
  • Owned-media content rewrite
  • Off-site distribution advice
LINE 03

Site GEO retrofit

Make the site friendly to generative engines: crawlable, extractable, correctly attributed.

  • Structured data implementation
  • llms.txt & crawl policy
  • Definition-style content blocks
  • Launch checks & re-verification
LINE 04

Quarterly re-measurement

Measure round after round, and let the data decide where the next round should — and should not — invest.

  • Multi-round retests per contract
  • Round-over-round comparison reports
  • Attribution analysis
  • Action priority recommendations

FAQ

The five questions we hear most

How is GEO different from SEO?
SEO aims to rank pages higher in search results, so the user clicks through to your site. GEO aims to get your brand and facts written directly into the AI’s answer — the user may never click at all. GEO therefore optimises “extractable entities and facts”, not “rankable pages”. The techniques overlap, but the acceptance metrics differ: SEO watches rankings and clicks; GEO watches awareness, accuracy, visibility and top-3 mention rate.
How long does GEO take to show results?
Structural fixes on the site — structured data, llms.txt, crawlability — show up the next time the engine re-crawls. Corrections to brand facts depend on corpus updates and index refreshes, which usually span multiple rounds. The exact cadence depends on each engine’s crawl frequency and index refresh cycle; engines do not publish this, and we cannot control it either. What we do promise: every round leaves a comparable record, and we state clearly in which round a change appeared.
How do you measure results?
Four metrics: awareness (ask AI your brand name — does it know you), accuracy (does AI mix up your facts), visibility (how much AI cites and shows about you) and top-3 mention rate (how often your brand appears in the first three of a recommendation list). Every round keeps the original questions, answers, timestamps and screenshots — an evidence pack anyone can re-check.
Does GEO turn into spam or gaming?
We use no fake reviews, bulk padding, hidden text or fabricated structured data. The only sustainable path in GEO is making true, verifiable, well-structured facts easier for engines to read. Gaming tactics, once recognised by an engine, can demote your site or entity — a cost far above the benefit.
Which brands should not do GEO?
Three cases: very low-ticket impulse purchases whose path never passes a chatbot; brands with zero citable public sources (no website, no registry record, no press coverage); and budgets that demand guaranteed citations within two weeks — an expectation that does not match how generative engines index.

Boundaries

What we will tell you not to buy

A good fit

Your buyers ask AI first

  • High-ticket B2B categories with long, multi-vendor evaluation cycles
  • You already have a website and public footprint, but AI answers miss or misstate you
  • Competitors have started appearing in AI recommendations
  • You accept round-by-round measurement rather than daily rank tracking
Not yet

No raw material to optimize

  • Low-ticket impulse purchases where the buyer never opens a chatbot
  • No website, no registry record, no third-party coverage — zero factual sources
  • An expectation of “guaranteed AI recommendation within two weeks”
  • Requests to suppress negative competitor coverage — that is a legal and PR matter, not ours

Start with a baseline, not a proposal

In a 30-minute call we will ask about your target question set and competitive landscape, then tell you plainly whether GEO is worth the spend. If it is not, we will say so.
